About

Anton Goudsmit and Harmen Fraanje share a musical history spanning more than a quarter of a century. Over that time they have played countless concerts together, including with Eric Vloeimans’ Fugimundi, an international quartet featuring Rudi Mahall and Samuel Rohrer, and as guests in each other’s ensembles.

Their first duo album will be released in January 2028 and will be celebrated with an extensive tour of renowned European jazz venues and festivals.

Their music moves effortlessly between original compositions and intuitive improvisations. Fraanje’s poetic lyricism and Goudsmit’s energetic inventiveness meet naturally in adventurous interplay full of surprising twists — always razor-sharp, and with a healthy dose of playfulness.

Anton Goudsmit has been one of the most beloved guitarists in the Netherlands for decades. In 2010 he received the Boy Edgar Prize, the most important award in Dutch jazz.

Harmen Fraanje is internationally regarded as one of the most distinctive European jazz pianists of his generation. He has released several albums on ECM Records and has collaborated with musicians such as Arve Henriksen and Ernst Reijseger. His music has also featured in projects by the world-renowned filmmaker Werner Herzog.
