The Songbird Sang brings together French musicians Magic Malik, Brice Soniano and the distinctive percussionist Toma Gouband, alongside Dutch ECM artist Harmen Fraanje. The quartet moves in a sound world that feels both intimate and earthy, rooted in a natural sense of space and interaction. Fraanje’s lyrical piano meets Malik’s expressive flute and voice, and Soniano’s resonant bass in music that breathes and opens up space. Gouband extends percussion beyond the drum kit, combining drums with stones, branches and other natural materials, shaping the group’s organic sound. The French label Astropi releases the album The Songbird Sang in December 2026.
